Ranking distribution by reporting date

SOV formula: bucket SV ÷ total SV of all supplied keywords, using the selected SV column. This is keyword-set SOV, not a full market-wide share estimate. Search volume is held constant across ranking dates for the selected SV basis.

Free Share of Voice (SOV) Dashboard Generator

Tracking keyword rankings across multiple dates can get messy, especially when you’re working with large keyword lists. The SEO Shades Share of Voice (SOV) Dashboard Generator helps you organize ranking data, compare keyword performance, and understand how your tracked keywords perform over time.

Upload a CSV file, paste data directly from Excel or Google Sheets, or enter keywords manually. The tool turns your ranking data into an easy-to-read dashboard with ranking distribution, Share of Voice trends, and downloadable reports.

What Is a Share of Voice (SOV) Dashboard?

A Share of Voice dashboard helps you understand how much visibility your tracked keywords receive based on their search volume and ranking positions.

Instead of checking keyword positions one by one, you can review your entire keyword set in one place. This makes it easier to spot improvements, identify ranking losses, and prepare SEO performance reports.

This tool calculates keyword-set Share of Voice using the search volume of your selected keywords. It is designed to analyze the keyword data you provide, rather than estimate your website’s complete share of the search market.

What You Can Do With This Free SOV Tool

1. Import Keyword Ranking Data

Upload a CSV or TSV file containing your keywords, search volumes, and ranking positions. You can also copy a table from Excel or Google Sheets and paste it directly into the tool.

The dashboard detects keyword columns, search volume columns, and ranking date columns automatically, helping you get started without manually configuring every field.

2. Track Share of Voice Over Time

Compare ranking data across multiple reporting dates to see how your keyword visibility changes.

The dashboard displays Share of Voice trends for Top 3 rankings, Top 10 rankings, and positions 11–20. Use these trends to understand whether your tracked keywords are gaining or losing visibility.

3. Analyze Keyword Ranking Distribution

Review how your keywords are distributed across these ranking groups:

  • Top 3
  • Positions 4–5
  • Positions 6–10
  • Positions 11–20
  • Positions 21–100
  • Outside the Top 100

This breakdown helps you identify keywords that are already performing well and those that may need more SEO attention.

4. Compare Search Volume

Choose the search volume column you want to use for your analysis. The tool uses that selected column to calculate Share of Voice across your tracked keyword set.

If your data includes search volumes from different reporting periods, you can select the appropriate column before building the dashboard.

5. Export SEO Reports

Once your dashboard is ready, export the results for further analysis or reporting.

Available options include:

  • Download an Excel workbook with keyword rankings and a formula-driven SOV dashboard.
  • Export the SOV summary as a CSV file.
  • Export your edited keyword data as CSV.
  • Open the generated workbook in Google Drive and convert it to Google Sheets.

These options make it easier to keep your ranking data organized and share performance reports with clients or team members.

How to Use the Share of Voice Dashboard Generator

Follow these steps to analyze your keyword ranking data.

Step 1: Prepare your keyword data

Create a table with one keyword per row. Include a keyword column, at least one search volume column, and ranking columns with reporting dates in their headers.

Step 2: Import your data

Upload a CSV or TSV file, paste your table from Excel or Google Sheets, or use the sample table to see how the tool works.

Step 3: Select a search volume column

Choose the search volume column you want to use as the basis for your SOV calculations.

Step 4: Review your data

Check the imported rows and correct any missing or inaccurate values before generating the dashboard.

Step 5: Build your dashboard

Click the Build SOV Dashboard button to view ranking distribution, keyword counts, search volume totals, and Share of Voice trends.

Step 6: Export your results

Download the Excel workbook, export the summary as CSV, or use the Google Drive option to continue working with your report.

How Does the SOV Calculation Work?

The tool calculates Share of Voice for each ranking group by dividing the search volume associated with keywords in that group by the total search volume of all supplied keywords.

Formula:

Share of Voice (%) = (Search volume of keywords in a ranking group ÷ Total search volume of all tracked keywords) × 100

For example, suppose your tracked keyword set has a total search volume of 20,000. Keywords ranking in the Top 10 account for 8,000 of that search volume.

Your Top 10 SOV would be:

(8,000 ÷ 20,000) × 100 = 40%

This means keywords ranking in the Top 10 account for 40% of the total search volume in your supplied keyword set.

The calculation uses the selected search volume column consistently across reporting dates. It does not represent actual clicks, impressions, or a complete market-wide share of voice.
